COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s Braxtin Miller scored 23 points and dished-out a season-high six assists but Indiana’s big run late allowed the Hoosiers to pull away for an 87-75 victory.
The Buckeyes fall for the first and only time at home this season and are now 13-6 overall and 9-6 in the conference.
Ohio State closed the third quarter on a 14-4 run and led 56-51 heading to the fourth quarter. After a back and forth start to the fourth, Indiana went on a 14-0 run to build a 10-point lead and the Buckeyes were only able to get two field goals over the final six minutes of play.
Miller’s 23 points paced four Buckeyes in double figures. She also had five rebounds to go along with her six assists and two steals. Dorka Juhasz notched her 12th double-double of the year with 11 points and 12 rebounds. She also added three blocks.
Freshman Kateri Poole had 17 points and grabbed six rebounds. Jacy Sheldon was marred by foul trouble most of the game and finished with 11 points, three steals and two assists.
The first half was a competitive, back and forth battle, indicative of two Top 15 teams. But the second half was bogged by fouls and neither team was able to get into much of a rhythm. Indiana shot 41 free throws in the game while the Buckeye only attempted 14.
Ohio State will finish the season next Friday when it travels to Rutgers for the teams’ lone meeting of the season. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. and it will be televised on ESPN.
