COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (4-6-1, 0-3-0 in the Big Ten) fell to Wisconsin (6-2-3, 3-0-1) Friday 2-0 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. It marked the fourth-consecutive game the Badgers posted a shutout.
How it Happened
The Buckeyes finished the first half with a flourish of shots but nothing found the back of the net.
Freshman Joakim Jahnsen had the best chance in the 33rd minute with a rocket from 20 yards out that hit the top left corner of the goalpost and bounced out without crossing the line.
The Badgers then scored in the 39th minute on a goal by Andrew Akindele to take the 1-0 lead in what proved to be the game-winner. Wisconsin added a late goal to secure the win.
- Ohio State has been involved in eight games decided by one goal in addition to a double overtime 1-all draw vs. Creighton, a 2-0 win over Cleveland State and the loss to the Badgers.
- Ohio State outshot the Badgers 6-5 in the first half with a 5-3 lead in shots on goal. The Buckeyes also had a 4-1 edge in corners. For the game, Wisconsin led in shots 16-13 with an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal.
- Noah Lawrence started the second half in goal for the Buckeyes, his first action since Aug. 29 vs. UAB.
