Get to Know the Freshmen: Jamie Lasda

Meet Jamie Lasda, a midfielder from Ithaca, N.Y., below.

“Jamie is a crafty and creative player. She has great hands and the ability to finish. I have also been impressed with her vision and overall knowledge of the game since watching her throughout high school. I can’t wait to see the impact she has on Buckeye women’s lacrosse.”

Jamie, on why she chose Ohio State …

“I chose Ohio State because of the tangible unity, drive and respect within the team and the incredible support directed at our academic and athletic achievement. It was clear it was a university overflowing with success on all levels. I was also very excited to be part of such a large and active athletic community and couldn’t wait for game days of course.”

Prior to Ohio State

Team captain in 2019-20
Named to Under Armour Upstate Team in 2017 and ‘18
Four-time all-section selection
Played for Ithaca Lil Red for 12 years and Snipers Elite Lacrosse for four years
Received international language excellence award in 2019
Also played basketball and was a two-time team captain
Secretary of Captain’s Council and took part in Link Crew

Personal

Daughter of Leigh Ulrich and Brian Lasda, who played lacrosse at Cornell
Brothers Riley and Eli both played lacrosse at UAlbany
Plans to major in social sciences and pursue a career in international relations
Enjoys swimming, hiking and running
With a father who played lacrosse in college and two older brothers in the sport at a young age, was surrounded by the sport and started playing at age 4
Dual citizen of Latvia and the United States and plans to play in the 2021 World Games with the Latvian National Team
