
Donovan Hewitt Earns Big Ten Freshman of the Week Title

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Freshman Donovan Hewitt (Burtonsville, Md.) was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the first time this season following a team win at the annual Arnold Challenge, the Big Ten announced Tuesday.
Hewitt competed in two events in the tri-meet against Iowa and Northern Illinois, earning the first place title on both rings (13.800) and vault (14.450). Hewitt’s performance on rings set a new career-high while his score on vault tied with his previously set career-high.
Prior to Ohio State, Hewitt was a United States Championship qualifier in both 2018 and 2019. Hewitt placed fourth on rings in 2019’s competition at the US Championships on both high bar and vault.
The Buckeyes have earned four Big Ten Freshman of the Week titles this season (Justin Ah Chow, Jan. 21; Kazuki Hayashi, Jan. 28; Justin Ah Chow, March 3; Donovan Hewitt, March 10).

Ohio State will compete in a Friday night competition, March 13, against Big Ten opponents Minnesota and Nebraska. The meet is slated for 6 p.m. ET.
