Buckeyes Score Season High at No. 8 Wolverines

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team dropped a 197.350-195.900 decision at No. 8 Michigan on Sunday afternoon in a Big Ten matchup at the Crisler Center. The loss puts the Buckeyes at 3-3 (1-3 B1G) on the season while the Wolverines improve to 6-0 (4-0 B1G).
“Today was forward progress for the young Bucks,” said head coach Meredith Paulicivic. “We earned a good road score, but we’re still looking to make lots of improvements.”
The Buckeyes started the meet on uneven bars, where they posted a 49.075. Zoe Schweitzer and Colby Miller tied for third place behind a 9.850.
Ohio State moved on to vault for the second rotation, where it earned a score of 48.800. Olivia Aepli posted a 9.825, placing fifth in the event.
On floor exercise, the Buckeyes registered a 49.225, a new season high for the team. Claire Gagliardi recorded a 9.925 to tie for second place. Olivia Aepli tied for fourth place behind a 9.900.
The evening concluded on balance beam, where Ohio State earned a season-high 48.800. Freshman Ella Hodges placed second behind a 9.925, a career high.
The Buckeyes continue B1G action when they return to the Covelli Center to host Penn State at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb.14.
