No. 5 Ohio State Hosts Bemidji in WCHA Matchup

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 5 Ohio State hosts Bemidji State in its second-straight home weekend. The Buckeyes enter the weekend after completing their non-conference schedule against Quinnipiac while Bemidji is traveling to Columbus with a 0-2 record against the Scarlet and Gray this season. Puck drop on Friday is slated for 6:07 p.m. while the conference finale is scheduled for 3:07 p.m. on Saturday at the OSU Ice Rink.

Ohio State finished its non-conference schedule with a sweep over Quinnipiac. With the wins, the Scarlet and Gray is now 5-0 against the Bobcats in program history. Sara Saekkinen opened scoring in game one but Gabby Rosenthal scored the game-winner midway through the second period as the contest ended 2-1 in the Buckeyes’ favor. Ohio State put up an impressive 41 shots to the Bobcats’ 13.
Two defensemen scored in the series finale as Madison Bizal struck first and Teghan Inglis extended the Buckeye lead. Rebecca Freiburger scored the game-winner early in the third period and Andrea Braendli posted 18 saves in the 3-2 win.

- Ohio State posted its fifth sweep of the season last weekend with two wins against Quinnipiac. The Buckeyes end their non-conference schedule with a record of 7-2-1.
- Gabby Rosenthal scored her fourth game-winning goal of the season against QU on Friday. She now has six goals in the past seven games.
- Tatum Skaggs and Liz Schepers recorded their 100th career games in Saturday’s win. Schepers has a team-high 17 goals while Skaggs is nearing her 100th career point with 92 after the weekend.
- Emma Maltais continues to lead the team in points with 42 from 15 goals and a team-high 27 assists. She has 125 career points which puts her seventh in Buckeye history.
- Sophie Jaques leads the team in defensive scoring with 17 points from five goals and 12 assists. Jincy Dunne and Madison Bizal trail with 15 points and 14, respectively.
- Andrea Braendli recorded her 50th career game on Friday and her 50th career start on Saturday. She has a record of 13-5-4.

Series history against Bemidji State
The Buckeyes traveled to Minnesota in November where they swept the Beavers with a 4-3 overtime win in the series opener and a 3-1 victory in game two. Ohio State has a 42-28-12 overall record against Bemidji State.
In game one of the season matchup, freshman Jenn Gardiner tallied two goals while Jincy Dunne forced overtime late in the third period after Heather Olson gave the Beavers their first lead of the game in the opening minute of the period. With 1:18 down in 5-on-5 overtime, Liz Schepers put away the game with assists from Sophie Jaques and Emma Maltais.
Tatum Skaggs opened scoring in game two with a power play goal while Liz Schepers and Emma Maltais notched two more to clinch the game. Abby Halluska scored in the final frame but the Buckeyes held on for the win.

Bemidji State is entering the weekend in fifth place in the conference. Last weekend the Beavers tied Minnesota State on Friday and lost the extra league point in 3-on-3 overtime but defeated the Mavericks 3-1 on Saturday.
Senior Haley Mack is leading the Beavers with 20 points from a team-high 13 goals and seven assists. Three Beavers are tied with a team-high 11 assists on the season including juniors Clair DeGeorge and Mak Langei and senior Kiki Radke. Langei leads Bemidji in defensive scoring with 13 points. DeGeorge is second on the team in points with 17. Behind Mack, junior Paige Beebe has posted a second-best eight goals.
Redshirt junior Lauren Bench has started and played in 22 games for the Beavers, posting a record of 11-10-1. She has allowed 47 goals for a goals against average of 2.17 and a .918 save percentage.
