Looking Back at the First Weekend in Covelli

The Ohio State women’s volleyball team opened the 2019 season by hosting the 15th annual Sports Imports D.C. Koehl Classic inside the Covelli Center. Here’s a few highlights from the first weekend:
Sophomore Mia Grunze recorded a career-high 30 kills and 30.5 points against Texas Tech. Through three matches, she hit .304 and averaged 4.91 kills per set.

Freshman Jenaisya Moore had the hot hand for the Buckeyes against VCU as she hit .340 with a career-best 23 kills.
Rookie Mac Podraza handed out 66 assists, a career high, against the Red Raiders. She posted double-digit assists in every match and averaged 11.25 helpers per set.
Freshman Kylie Murr, senior Camry Halm and junior Hannah Gruensfelder handled the majority of the defensive responsibilities for the Buckeyes. The trio combined for 102 digs over three matches, paced by Murr with 4.75 per set.

Senior Elle Sandbothe electrified the crowd on multiple occasions.
As a team, Ohio State totaled 22.5 blocks and outscored its opponents by 46.5 points on the weekend.
