Koontz Taking Shot at U23 Team Membership

As a Final X runner-up, Brady Koontz owned the right to request a Special Wrestle-off for the 55-kg spot on the United States’ U23 Greco-Roman World Team. He elected to take that shot and will face Liam Cronin (Indiana University) in a best-of-3 series on July 18 in Fargo, N.D. The winner will represent Team USA at the 2019 U23 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Oct. 28-Nov. 2.

Koontz was the 2019 Senior World Team Team Trials Challenge champion, and has been a member of the 2015 Cadet World Team and the 2018 Junior World Team.

Cronin is a rising junior at Indiana University. He placed third in the 2018 U23 World Team Trials for Greco and fourth in the 2017 UWW Junior Freestyle World Team Trials.
