LAKE MONTICELLO, Va. –Winning four races on the day, the Ohio State rowing team finished 9-6 overall at the Big Ten/ACC Dual. The team raced Duke, Syracuse and Virginia and both the First Varsity Eight and First Novice Eight finished undefeated through both sessions.

FIRST SESSION
The Buckeyes ended the first session of the day with two first-place finishes. The First Varsity Eight of Anjali Fernandes, Leonie Heuer, Alessandra Montesano, Jessy Vermeer, Ida Petersen, Sierra Cydrus, Sierra Tiede, and Grace Libben finished with a time of 6:32.1 to defeat its opponents by a combined 8.7 seconds in the first race of the day.
The Second Varsity Eight earned a second-place finish, racing a time of 6:43.7. The boat consisted of Sophie Blair, Rachel DeWitte, Michayla Binkley, Rose Carr, Michaela Nordhaus, Ally Hatton, Mo Robinson, Claire Cannon and Maddie Frendberg. Also coming in second place was the First Varsity Four of Savannah Sellers, Olivia Kwiecinski, Willow Wahlers, Lena Harper and Divya Batchu. The Buckeyes finished with a time of 7:26.6, ahead of Syracuse and 2.4 seconds behind Duke. The Second Varsity Four of Kailey Boomer, Kayla Kuntzman, Simone Fishel, Madison Sheahan, and Kelly Stainbrook.
The First Novice Eight (Ungar, Draycott, Pabst, McNutt, Strzelecki, Robison, Pohl, Clouse, Olechiw) closed out the session with a win over Duke’s A and B crews. The boat raced a time of 6:49.6, 10.5 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
Ohio State finished undefeated against Syracuse in the session and 3-3 against Duke in the session.

SECOND SESSION
The 1V8 completed a sweep of its opponents with a win over Virginia to start the second session. The crew improved on its earlier finish with a time of 6:26.9 while the Cavaliers came in at 6:31.5. Also winning its race against Virginia was the 1N8, racing 6:48.6 to improve on its time from the first session.
The 2V8 finished with a time of 6:45.0 in its race against Virginia and the 1V4 crossed the finish line at 7:31.6. The 2V4 clocked a 7:52.2 in its second race of the day.

NEXT UP
The Buckeyes are back on the Scioto next weekend and will race Michigan State and Michigan at Griggs Reservoir on Saturday, April 13. The regatta is set to start at 9:00 a.m.
