- It’s been awhile since Ohio State and Wisconsin have battled one another. It’s been one year, three months and nine days since the teams last met in Madison Dec. 2, 2017 in the first Big Ten game for Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann. The Buckeyes won that game 83-58. The Badgers have not been to Columbus since Feb. 23, 2017 (2 yrs., 16 days). The Buckeyes won that one 83-73.
- Six Buckeyes are shooting better than 70 percent from the foul line this season. Freshman Luther Muhammad upped his foul shooting percentage with a 7-of-8 effort at Nebraska and an 8-for-8 outing vs. Penn State. He is shooting at a 78 percent clip to date (54-69). Guards C.J. Jackson and Keyshawn Woods shoot 79 and 81 percent, respectively. Brothers Kaleb Wesson (73 percent) and Andre Wesson (74 percent) join freshman Jaedon LeDee (74 percent) in the frontcourt.
- With 253 wins in the last nine seasons (2010-19), Ohio State already has more victories this decade than in any other in the program’s history. Ohio State won 189 games from 1980-1989 and 188 contests from 1960-69. The winning percentage of .721 (253-98/351) in the last 10 years is the best previous winning percentage in a decade in Ohio State history. The win total is No. 13 nationally over the last 10 seasons and second only to Michigan State’s 261 wins among Big Ten teams.
- The Buckeyes have four wins in nine tries in 2018-19 vs. teams that made the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Ohio State defeated two of those teams on the road (Cincinnati, 64-56/Creighton, 69-60), lost at No. 5 Michigan (65-49), at No. 11 Michigan State (62-44) and at No. 14 Purdue (86-51) and took down UCLA (80-66) on a neutral court. At home, the Buckeyes fell vs. Syracuse (L, 72-62), No. 8 Michigan State (86-77) and Purdue (79-67) and have a win over Bucknell (W, 73-71).
- Ohio State will played nine games against teams among the Associated Press Top 25 or receiving votes for Top 25 consideration. Five of those games were played away from Value City Arena. The Buckeyes face(d) No. 9 Michigan State (home/away), No. 7 Michigan (away), No. 11 Purdue (home/away), No. 24 Maryland (home/away), No. 21 Wisconsin (home, March 10) and No. 20 Cincinnati (away) among teams currently in the Top 25.

C.J. Jackson reached 100 career 3-pointers made with three makes vs. Cleveland State (11/23/18) … for his Ohio State career he is (141-383/.368) from distance … has scored 949 career points after a nine-point effort at Northwestern and is working to become Ohio State’s next 1,000-point scorer … Kyle Young, who missed four games with a stress fracture in his right leg, is 72-of-100 shooting this season (.720) … he returned to action vs. Penn State Feb. 7 after suffering the injury vs. Maryland Jan. 18 … Joey Lane has appeared in 13 games this season and is 4-for-6 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range … he also has six rebounds, six assists and a pair of steals in 2.7 minutes per game.
The Ohio State vs. Wisconsin Series
Ohio State leads the all-time series with Wisconsin 88-70. The Buckeyes are 54-23 in Columbus and 30-46 in Madison. The teams have met five times on neutral courts with Ohio State winning four. The Buckeyes have faced 25 Badger teams ranked among the Associated Press Top 25. Ohio State is 12-13 in those games. C.J. Jackson averages 10.7 points and 3.0 rebounds in three meetings against the Badgers. Kaleb Wesson, in his only meeting vs. Wisconsin as a freshman, tallied 19 points and three rebounds.
Scouting the Badgers
Ethan Happ leads Wisconsin in scoring (17.9 ppg.), rebounding (10.2 rpg.), assists (138) and steals (34) for a Badgers team that enters the game with the Buckeyes with an overall record of 21-9 and a Big Ten mark of 13-6. D’Mitrik Trice (12.1 ppg.) and Brad Davidson (10.8 ppg.) also contribute double digits offensively for the Badgers. Wisconsin has won four of the last five games with the only blemish in that stretch a double overtime loss to Indiana in Bloomington, 75-73.
Ohio State vs. the Big Ten
The Buckeyes own an overall record of 825-728 against current league members. Chris Holtmann is new to the Big Ten but no stranger to Big Ten competition. He faced six league opponents during his six years as a head coach prior to taking over for the Buckeyes last year. He entered his first year of Big Ten competition with a 4-5 record vs. conference foes. He is 27-22 vs. conference opponents in eight years as a head coach.
Senior Day Sunday
The Ohio State men’s basketball program will recognize 10 Buckeyes before Ohio State tips off with Wisconsin this afternoon.
John McCausland will graduate this spring with a degree in finance. He has spent the last four years as a manager with the Buckeyes. The native of Avon, Ohio, plans to pursue a career in professional or collegiate sports.
Luke Gebbie will graduate this spring with a degree in logistics management after spending the last four years as an Ohio State manager. Gebbie, who hails from Granger, Indiana, plans on working with Allison Transmission in Indianapolis after graduation.
Following three years as an Ohio State manager, Austin Rector will graduate with a degree in accounting. A native of Barberton, Ohio, Rector plans on working in public accounting in Cleveland after graduation.
Grandview Heights, Ohio, is home for Willis Day, a marketing major with a business analytics minor at Ohio State. He has spent the last three years as a manager with the Buckeyes.
Griffin Standley is a sport industry major after a three-year managerial career with the Buckeyes. Standley is from nearby Powell, Ohio.
David Aaron is a native of Cheltenham, Pennsylvania. He has spent the last four years with Ohio State in video production. The communications major spent last summer interning with the Seattle Seahawks and plans to pursue a career with an NBA franchise.
Greg Oden is graduating from Ohio State this spring with a degree in sport industry. He spent the 2007 season with the Buckeyes and led Ohio State to the 2007 NCAA Championship Game in his one season in the Scarlet and Gray. The No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, Oden is a native if Indianapolis, Indiana, and has spent the last three years as a student assistant coach with the Buckeyes.
Keyshawn Woods is completing his lone season with the Buckeyes after joining the Ohio State men’s basketball program last summer. Keyshawn, a native of Gastonia, North Carolina, has played more than 26 minutes a game for the Buckeyes this season and has been instrumental in helping the Buckeyes position themselves for postseason competition. Keyshawn has been working toward a graduate degree in leadership and coaching while at Ohio State.
Joey Lane has spent the last four years with the men’s basketball program. Initially a walk-on with the Buckeyes, Lane, who hails from Deerfield, Illinois, earned a scholarship prior to his sophomore season. Joey has been an Academic All-Big Ten selection each of the last three seasons. He has appeared in more than 30 games during his Ohio State career and when not on the court, he leads the popular Towel Gang cheering section on the Ohio State bench. He will graduate this spring with a degree in marketing.
C.J. Jackson is completing his third season with the Buckeyes. The Charlotte, North Carolina, native, has played nearly 100 games for Ohio State with nearly 70 starts. He is close to 1,000 career points with more than 300 rebounds and assists during his Ohio State career. Jackson will graduate this spring with a degree in sport industry. Though he has several memorable moments as a Buckeye, two late-game 3-pointers in wins at Indiana the last two years are among the best.
