Fencers Gear Up for Garret Penn State Open

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State fencing teams head back on the road this weekend for the Penn State Garret Open in University Park, Pa. Competition will start with the women’s tournament at 8 a.m. Saturday and the men will compete beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday. Both events will be in the White Building on the PSU campus. This is only the second time since 2015 the Buckeyes will compete at this event. Follow live stats here.
THE COMPETITION
Fencers hailing from Temple, Yale, Penn State, University of Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Columbia University will compete against Ohio State in all three disciplines. Many Buckeyes will battle the same opponents they met last weekend at the Elite Invitational in Philadelphia.

Three Buckeyes placed in the Top 10 at last year’s event, including Camilla Rivano, who took home gold, JR Culpepper’s third-place finish and Henry Lange’s eighth-place finish.

Of the 34 Ohio State fencers who are competing, 15 of them are in the Top 20 of the preliminary seeding of their respective disciplines, including three freshmen.
