PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Ohio State will have a pair of players in match play of the 2018 US Amateur at famed Pebble Beach as seniors Caleb Ramirez and Will Grimmer each played two solid rounds of stroke to earn their spot.
Excited to advance to match play in the @USGA US Amateur. Tune in to @FS1 tomorrow for live coverage from Pebble Beach. Thanks to everyone for their support thus far. And excited to have my teammate and roommate at OSU @Calebramirez5 in match play as well! #GoBucks

Ramirez, playing in his home state, made three birdies and an eagle in his opening round 72 at Pebble Beach on Monday. He then made four birdies and four clutch pars down the stretch after a triple bogey on his 14th hole on Tuesday to post a second-consecutive round of 72 and finish tied for 25th at 1-over par.
Grimmer shot 73 on Monday at Pebble Beach and then opened his round on Tuesday with three-straight birdies to put him in a good spot. Admittedly, he played a bit conservatively the rest of the way to secure his place in the match play field. Playing in his fifth-consecutive US Amateur, this is Grimmer’s second time advancing to match play. He made it to the round of 32 at Olympia Fields in 2016.
Daniel Wetterich, who fell to current professional Jon Rahm in the round of 16 at Olympic Fields, was also in the field this week. He carded rounds of 78-77 and missed the match play cut.
The round of 64 matches will not be set until Wednesday morning as there are a remarkable 24 players tied for the final spot. The lone winner of the playoff will earn that final coveted spot in the field.
FS1 will have three hours of coverage from 5-8 p.m. ET on Wednesday evening.
