Rio grande, p.r. – Daniel Wetterich and Josh Wick each carded final round 73s on Tuesday to lead the Buckeyes on day three of the Puerto Rico Classic at the Rio Mar Country Club.
Wetterich made three birdies and an eagle in his round on Tuesday and finished tied for 34th at +8. Wick was a shot behind him at +9 as he played a steady round with 14 pars, one birdie and three bogeys. This was Wick’s first stroke play event of the year.
Jeg Coughlin III was the top Buckeye finisher this week as he carded rounds of 69-73-75 to finish in a tie for 21st at 4-over par. He made a total of nine birdies over the three rounds which was his most in a 54-hole event this season.
Will Grimmer carded a final round 76 to finish in a tie for 61st while Will Voetsch posted an 80 and finished tied for 66th.
As a team, the Buckeyes finished in 10th place in the 15-team field after rounds of 293-292-297 (+30).
In the individual tournament, sophomore Caden Orewiler posted the best finish of his career as he tied for third at 3-over par. He posted rounds of 70-75-74. Kevin Stone carded his best round of the week on Tuesday with a 76. He finished tied for 20th.
The Buckeyes will have nearly a month off to prepare for the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga. The opening round is set for Sunday, March 18.
