The Buckeyes are coming off a solid weekend at the Big Ten Match Play Championship and will need to use that momentum as they will face one of the best fields of the season at the Puerto Rico Classic.
Noting the buckeyes
- This is the ninth appearance for Ohio State at the Puerto Rico Classic with its best finish being a fifth-place showing last year.
- Will Grimmer led the Buckeyes last year as he tied for 12th at 1-under par
- The Buckeyes went 3-1 at the Big Ten Match Play Championship in their last time out last weekend. OSU defeated Michigan and Maryland on day one before falling to Iowa in a fog-shortened nine-hole match on Saturday morning. The Buckeyes closed the event with a 6-0 sweep of Minnesota on Saturday afternoon.
- Daniel Wetterich had a great fall and he opened the spring by knocking off Michigan’s Kyle Mueller who was the conference’s top-ranked player according to Golfstat.
- Wetterich leads the team with a 70.57 stroke average and a pair of top-10 finishes.
- Grimmer has a 71.71 scoring average and all but one of his rounds this year have counted towards the team score.
- Will Voetsch opened the spring with a top-5 finish at the Georgia Southern Individual Invitational.
- Ohio State notched a pair of sixth place finishes early in the fall and then capped the fall with a runner-up finish at the Dayton Intercollegiate
