
Alec Yoder Competing with US Gym at World Championships

Alec Yoder of the Ohio State University men’s gymnastics team is over in Doha, Qatar competing alongside some of the best gymnasts in the world for the U.S. team as it competes at the World Championships.
The qualification sessions get underway on Thursday, but Yoder and the U.S. team hits the mat on Friday.

Day One Update
Alec Yoder and the U.S. Men’s team sit at third place overall after their first day of qualification. The top eight teams from the qualification round compete in the men’s team finals on Oct. 29, while the top 24 all-around qualifiers compete for the all-around championship on Oct. 31. The three teams that medal at the World Championships advance to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The U.S. Team earned a total of 250.362 points to land in third place in the team qualification rankings, with four remaining subdivisions. Russia sits at the top of the team ranking with a 258.402, followed by Japan at 253.312. The USA’s team scores by event were: floor exercise, 42.699; pommel horse, 38.833; still rings, 41.466; vault, 43.199; parallel bars, 43.233 and horizontal bar, 40.932.
Qualifications ? The men currently sit in 3?rd place after 6? subdivisions. @SamuelMikulak and @Yul_Shin0122 are 2?nd and th, respectively, in the all-around!
