PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Three Buckeyes posted sub-par rounds which led to Ohio State’s first under-par score of the year on Day 2 of the Carmel Cup on Saturday.
Daniel Wetterich, Will Grimmer and Caleb Ramirez all finished Saturday in red figures while Jeg Coughlin III and Will Voetsch each posted rounds of 1-over par.
Wetterich made five birdies and just two bogeys in his round of 3-under 69 which was one-off the lowest round of his career. That followed his 74 on Friday and he is 1-under for the tournament.
Grimmer leads the Buckeyes through two rounds as he posted a 2-under 70 on Saturday. Like Friday, he made four birdies but added an eagle at the par-5 sixth in the second round. He is in a tie for 21st at 3-under for the tournament.
Ramirez played a very steady round on Saturday as he went out in even par after an eagle and two bogeys. He then made back-to-back birdies on 12 and 13 to come home in 2-under 34 for his first under-par round of the year. The 70 pulls him into a tie with Wetterich at 1-under overall.
Voetsch followed his opening 69 with a 1-over 73 and is also under-par through 36 holes at 2-under. Coughlin rebounded with a solid 73 on Saturday and is level with teammate Caden Orewiler overall after he carded rounds of 78-75.
