GREENSBORO, Ga. — Three Buckeyes are inside the Top-30 of the 84-player Longer Linger Invitational after the first round. Ohio State’s fourth score towards the team tally was a 77, however, as the Buckeyes settled in to 11th place out of 15 teams entering Monday’s Round Two. Freshman Jeg Coughlin III carded a 2-under 70 and is tied for 17th on the player leaderboard
Coughlin III set the tone right away, going birdie-eagle to open the day. He would drop in another birdie on the ninth while committing just two bogeys all day. Daniel Wetterich got off to a hot start as well, scoring birdie-birdie through the first two holes. He then dipped four shots under pair on consecutive birdies for Holes 4-6 before giving it right back by bogeying the seventh and eighth. Overall, Wetterich sits 1-under and tied for 21st place.
Clark Engle mimicked the Wetterich start — back-to-back birdies to begin the morning. He would tally three more birdies by round’s end and came out at even par for a share of 30th place. Jack Mancinotti, representing OSU as an individual, is right behind his aforementioned teammates at 1-over and tied for 40th. He registered one of the team’s three eagles and was among a large group tied for second with 13 total pars (Coughlin III accumulated 13 pars as well).
