COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State is represented on the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Midwest Region Team for the eighth consecutive season with multiple recipients for the fourth time as Will Grimmer and Tee-k Kelly earned the all-region accolade.
Both Grimmer and Kelly qualified for NCAA postseason play individually, competing in the NCAA Kohler Regional. Kelly then took it one step further by capturing medalist honors in the event, becoming the first Buckeye to ever do so, and advance to this past week’s NCAA Championships. He earned a share of 30th place in the 156-player field through 56 holes, missing the cut by a lone stroke.
First-year head coach Jay Moseley registers his seventh career GCAA All-Region pupil. He mentored six All-Southeast selections in six years running the Kennesaw State program.
Kelly represents the only Buckeye to play in all 13 events during the 2015-16 season. In 38 rounds, he posted a team-best 73.16 season stroke average. He registered 19 rounds at or under par and dipped into the 60s five times during his senior campaign. Kelly also captured medalist honors twice.
Grimmer racked up 32 rounds during his freshman campaign, ranking second on the team right behind Kelly with a 73.38 stroke average. He consistently performed throughout the year, accumulating seven Top-25 individual showings in 11 events played. Grimmer is the owner of 11 career rounds at or under par entering his sophomore year in 2016-17.
