OPELIKA, Ala. — Will Grimmer and Sean Busch maintained their solid play from Sunday’s first round and carried it over into round number two Monday at the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner. Grimmer is just outside the individual top-10 with a share of 14th place while Busch ended the day in a tie for 27th overall in the large 96-player field.
Grimmer dropped in five birdies, including one on the final hole of his round, to counter-attack seven `squares’ etched on his scorecard (three bogies and two double bogies). He is 2-over for the tournament following an even par trip around the course in round one.
Busch, playing as an individual, sunk an eagle on the 12th hole to surge into the top-25. Steady play from there ensued to keep Busch in the upper third of the leaderboard with a piece of 27th. He’s posted rounds of 75-74 and sits 5-over with one round to go.
Addison Coll is the next highest Buckeye for an Ohio State team which is slotted T-13th in the team standings. Coll slowed down a little after a posting a 73 on the opening day, settling in for a 79 on Monday. His two-day total of 152 (+8) is good for 50th place.
Grant Weaver has carded matching tallies of 78, sitting 12-over and tied for 70th place. He hopped a roller coaster right out of the gates in round two, going `double-birdie-birdie-double-birdie-bogey’ to begin his round. The wild ride continued throughout the afternoon as Weaver recorded just five pars total. Tee-k Kelly rounds out the Buckeye contingent down in Alabama, registering scores of 80-82.
