COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team fell to Minnesota, 196.075-194.900, Saturday afternoon at St. John Arena.
The Buckeyes opened the meet with a 48.650 on vault. Jamie Stone earned a career-high 9.875 to win the event while posted a 9.750 to take fourth.
Ohio State then moved to uneven bars, earning a season-high 49.025. Kaitlyn Hofland tallied a 9.850 to tie for third while Tenille Funches recorded a 9.825.
After two rotations, the Gophers held a 98.125-97.675 lead over the Buckeyes.
In the third rotation, the Buckeyes posted a 48.350 on balance beam. Taylor Harrison tallied a 9.900 to tie for first. Maggie Dunn earned a 9.770 and Stefanie Merkle notched a 9.750
Ohio State then concluded the meet with a 48.825 on floor exercise. Harrison posted a 9.850 to finish second in the event. Merkle and Mattern each earned a 9.775 to tie for third.
The Buckeyes travel to Rutgers for a 1 p.m. meet Feb. 6.
