COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomores Addison Coll and Clark Engle both secured top-5 individual performances at the NCAA New Haven Regional, highlighted by Coll’s final round 64. The 6-under effort earned Coll a spot in a two-man playoff to punch a ticket into the NCAA Championships.
Troy University’s Tyler Dozier quickly spoiled the party, however, holing out from 138 yards with a wedge on his second shot of the opening playoff hole. The eagle put an end to Coll’s remarkable run ending in a tie for second place overall out of 75 players in the field.
Coll torched The Course at Yale to the tune of a 6-under 64, the lowest score of all players in the final round. He posted 72-70 in the first two go-arounds and finished at 4-under (206). Engle wasn’t far behind, grabbing a piece of fifth place on the individual leaderboard at 3-under (207). He registered a pair of tallies in the 60s bookending a middle round 73 (68-73-66).
The challenging track allowed only one team and 15 players to leave the tournament under par, including the pair of Buckeye sophomores. As a team, Ohio State placed eighth just three strokes out of the advancing top-5.
Tee-k Kelly was next on the list, tying for 49th place. He carded rounds of 72-73-75 en route to the plus-10 final ledger. Grant Weaver and Boo Timko rounded out the OSU lineup, compiling 54-hole totals of 222 (+12) and 223 (+13), respectively.
