COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University women’s volleyball program is offering a magnitude of camps this summer, ranging from specific position camps to full team camps. Camp age requirements range from kindergarten through 2015 high school graduates. You’re sure to find the right camp for you!
INDIVIDUAL CAMPS | Brochure/Registration
VOLLEYKIDS | June 6 | 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Volleyballkids will cover all basic fundamentals and individual skills of the game along with the conceptual movement of the game and use of multiple touches to play the ball over the net. This camp features modified net heights and fun instructional techniques while building core muscles and body coordination for athletic movement. Come and learn key techniques and fundamentals with the current members of the OSU Women’s Volleyball team.
ADVANCED LIBERO CAMP | June 6 | 1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.
This intense training camp for liberos will provide campers with lots of passing and defensive repetitions along with additional training techniques to improve passing. The Buckeye camp staff and players will train campers on proper body positioning and floor quickness. This camp is specially designed to enhance the skills for all interested liberos who want their game to enter the next level of competitiveness.
BUCKEYE ACADEMY CAMP | June 8-11 | 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Full Buckeye Academy Camp includes all camp sessions June 8-11, with the exception of Serving Camp on June 11
All Skills Session I: Hitting, Serving & Passing Camp | June 8 | 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
All Skills Session II: Blocking, Defense and Setting Camp | June 8 | 1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.
This is a camp for players who are looking to build a foundation for their volleyball skills, covering all basic fundamentals and individual skills of the game from passing, setting, and hitting to serving, defense and the movement of the game. This camp will progress to allow campers to apply their skills to live game-play. This camp is ideal for players who are new to the sport and players who are looking to get lots of repetitions and practice new skills. Learn important techniques and key fundamentals from current members of the OSU volleyball team and camp staff.
HITTING & BLOCKING CAMP | June 9 | 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
This camp will enable young athletes to become more dynamic hitters and blockers by learning advanced techniques. Skills addressed include footwork, arm swing mechanics, positional breakdown, eye-sequencing, transition offense and offensive/blocking systems. This camp is for any athlete who wants to become a stronger attacker and powerful blocker.
SERVING & PASSING CAMP | June 9 | 1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.
The Buckeyes will teach serving and passing techniques that will allow you to become more effective and consistent. Emphasis will be put on overhead float serves, top spin serves, jump float serves, and serving for accuracy in all areas of the court. Learn from current and former OSU defensive specialists who will teach important techniques in passing, including proper body position and footwork.
SETTING CAMP | June 10 | 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The goal of our popular setter camp is to develop and train the technical and mental aspects of the setter position. The camp will include training sessions with a mix of fundamental and situational training. Campers are split into groups based on age and then are adjusted accordingly to skill level.
DEFENSIVE CAMP | June 10 | 1: 30 p.m. – 4 p.m.
This one day camp focuses primarily on the skills and techniques to become a more effective defensive player. We will focus on defense and serve receive as well as some setting and other skills commonly used by the top liberos in college.
PLAYER’S CHOICE CAMP | June 11 | 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Do you need additional help on a specific skill? Maybe you additional reps serving or setting? The Buckeyes are here for you! For three hours, the Buckeyes will train you in a position that you want to gain improvement and show a variety of techniques that will help you. Whether it’s serving, setting, hitting, or defense, the Buckeyes will spend extra time with you helping you learn and build your technical skills.
SERVING CAMP | June 11 | 1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.
The Serving Camp will cater to all levels of serving ability, but this camp is structured for volleyball players who are looking to improve serving consistency and accuracy. Campers will walk away with the confidence to help their team earn valuable points from the service line. This camp will be taught by current and former Buckeye Volleyball players who excel in serving in the Big Ten.
ELITE INDIVIDUAL CAMPS | Brochure/Registration
July 6-8 | Grades 7-12 & 2015 Graduates
This camp is designed for players who have a foundation of skills and are interested in building upon what they have learned so far. This camp will review important fundamental skills and techniques, then will progress into individual and game-play training skills. This program is particularly recommended for athletes with the commitment to the sport and the motivation to play at the collegiate level.
All sessions will be led by the Buckeye Coaching Staff and current student-athletes. The Buckeyes have advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 three times in the past five years. Don’t miss this great opportunity to train with the Buckeyes!
TEAM CAMPS
TEAM DAY CAMP | July 9 | 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. | Brochure
Camp is open to any and all 2016-19 female high school graduates. Both club and high school teams are welcome
The 2015 Ohio State Team Day Camp provides a setting where teams compete against high level competition while also improving individual and team skills through instruction from the Ohio State coaching staff. The camp will follow a competition based format. Each team will play a minimum of four matches.
TEAM SKILLS CAMP | July 10-12 | Times vary from day-to-day | Brochure
Ohio State’s Team Skills Camp is an intensive camp designed for high school and high school-aged club teams of eight or more players. Our goal is to shape all the aspects of a championship team from leadership and team goal setting to individual skills from offensive rhythm and defensive movement to serve/serve receive skills and strategies. Each session breaks down individual skills and builds them into 6-on-6 game-play scenarios where teams compete against each other head-to-head. The camp will include a pool play tournament on the last day. The Team Skills Camp offers a personalized approach as we want to address the specific needs of each coach for your upcoming season. This unique camp will provide the perfect combination of training and competition to prepare your team for the upcoming season.
