Josh Fleagle, men’s swimming and diving
- Fleagle was crowned the Big Ten champion in the 200 freestyle. Touching in an Ohio State-record time of 1:33.16, Fleagle earned automatic qualification for the NCAA championships in the event. He picked up Top-3 finishes in five events overall – 200 freestyle, 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 100 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay.
Katie Borchers, track and field
- Borchers won the first conference outdoor title of her career at the 2015 Big Ten Indoor Championships, cruising to a school-record time of 2:04.31 in the 800-meter run, the fifth-best time in Division I this season. She also anchored the Distance Medley team to a school-record and fifth-place time of 11:19.80, nearly eight seconds better than the previous record.
Track & Field
- The women’s track and field team won the second Big Ten indoor title in school history Saturday afternoon at the 2015 Big Ten Indoor Championships at SPIRE Institute.
- The Buckeyes won three gold medals on the final day of competition – four in all – to capture their first conference indoor championship since 2011. The team set a total of six school records over two days of competition.
- The men placed sixth overall. Freshman Zack Bazile won gold in the long jump.
No. 8 Men’s Swimming and Diving
- The Buckeyes captured second at the 2015 Big Ten Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships with 623 points tallied over four days of competition.
- Overall, the Buckeyes brought home two individual titles – Josh Fleagle and Matt McHugh – and three school records.
Men’s Hockey (11-17-2, 6-10-0-0 B1G)
- With points from 10 players, including three from senior captain Tanner Fritz, the men’s hockey team completed a series sweep of Penn State with a 5-3 win Saturday in Value City Arena.
- The Buckeyes trailed 3-2 after the second period but outscored PSU 3-0 in the third for the win.
- Ohio State also posted a 5-3 win over the Nittany Lions on Friday.
Women’s Basketball (21-9, 13-5 B1G)
- Four Buckeyes scored in double-figures, led by 28 from freshman Kelsey Mitchell, as Ohio State finished the regular season with a 78-60 rout of No. 23 Nebraska. With the victory, OSU clinched the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Big Ten tournament.
- The win was the fourth-straight for the Buckeyes, who knocked off Penn State 88-70 on Thursday in University Park, Pa.
Men’s Basketball (21-8, 10-6 B1G)
- Shannon Scott hit three free throws in the final 24 seconds and D’Angelo Russell scored 28 points to lead Ohio State, which rebounded from a 12-point deficit, to a 65-61 victory over Purdue Sunday night.
- On Thursday, Jae’Sean Tate scored a career-high 22 points, Sam Thompson added 15 and Scott 13 to lead Ohio State past Nebraska 81-57.
No. 8 Men’s Tennis (12-3, 1-0 B1G)
- The men’s tennis team opened B1G play on Friday with a 6-1 victory over Penn State in University Park, Pa.
Women’s Gymnastics
- The women’s gymnastics team defeated Southeast Missouri State, 195.650-192.475, Saturday afternoon in St. John Arena.
- Sarah Grady, the Buckeyes’ lone senior, was honored post-meet after her final regular-season meet at home.
Softball (11-5, 0-0 B1G)
- Anna Kirk and Maddy McIntyre both hit three-run home runs and Olivia O’Reilly gave up just three hits in a five-inning shutout for Ohio State in a 10-0 win over Samford on Saturday in Auburn, Ala.
Men’s Lacrosse (4-2, 0-0 B1G)
- The men’s lacrosse team posted an 8-7 road win against Bellarmine Friday evening in Louisville, Ky.
- Senior Jesse King led the Buckeyes with four points on two goals and two assists, while graduate student Christopher May won 14-of-18 faceoffs and picked up 11 groundballs.
No. 11 Men’s Volleyball (12-4, 6-2 MIVA)
- The men’s volleyball team earned its ninth win in the last 10 matches, opening the weekend with a four-set win at Grand Canyon University.
Women’s Golf
- The women’s golf team shot an even-par 288 on their last go-around at the Westbrook Spring Invitational, ascending two places in the team standings and finishing fifth overall (289-293-288) in the 15 team-field.
