COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State fell to UT-Arlington, 73-68, Friday night at Value City Arena.
The Buckeyes (2-1) held a 34-32 lead at halftime but the Mavericks (2-1) opened the second half with a 12-2 run to make it a 44-36 contest. Ohio State cut the lead to three at 69-66 with 13 seconds remaining but the Buckeyes couldn’t overcome the deficit as Erick Neal and Jorge Bilbao sealed it with four late free throws.
JaQuan Lyle scored 15 points to go along eight assists and six boards while Keita Bates-Diop totaled 16 points and five rebounds. Kevin Hervey paced the Mavericks with 18 points and seven rebounds while Neal scored 17.
The Buckeyes host Louisiana Tech at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Value City Arena.
