Ohio State Releases 2016 Schedule – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s gymnastics team released its 2016 schedule Tuesday. The Buckeyes will host three regular home meets, along with the 2016 Big Ten Championships and 2016 NCAA Championships.
“Once again we’ve put together one of the most competitive schedules in the country, and it will serve as great preparation as we look to contend for conference and national titles,” head coach Rustam Sharipov said. “We look forward to our three regular season home meets this season and are very excited to host the top collegiate gymnasts in the country at both the Big Ten and NCAA championships in St. John Arena.”
Ohio State opens the season with a pair of home exhibition meets at Steelwood Athletic Training Facility. The Scarlet and Gray Intrasquad will be held Dec. 20, followed by the Alumni Exhibition Jan. 9.
The team opens the season on the road for three consecutive weeks beginning with a visit to the Windy City Invitational in Chicago for the sixth-consecutive season on Jan. 17. Next up is a trip west for a dual meet with California Jan. 24 before a Jan. 30 matchup at rival Michigan.
The Buckeyes compete only once as a team in the month of February, hosting defending Big Ten champion Penn State at St. John Arena Feb. 13. The following week, select Buckeyes will compete at the Winter Cup Challenge, a USA Gymnastics event, in Las Vegas Feb. 18-20.
OSU returns to action March 5 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center as hosts of the Arnold Classic Challenge. The Buckeyes then welcome defending national champion Oklahoma for a dual meet at St. John Arena March 11 before traveling to William & Mary to face the Tribe on March 20.
Ohio State will enjoy the friendly confines of St. John Arena for the entirety of championship season and the month of April. The 2016 Big Ten Championships are scheduled for April 1-2, followed by the NCAA Qualifier April 15 and the 2016 NCAA Championships April 16.
