COLUMBUS, Ohio – Donnie Darr, sixth-year head coach of the Ohio State men’s golf team, and his Buckeye squad hit the links on Friday, Sept. 5 for the first competitive round of the 2014-15 season. Ohio State is set to play 72 holes over the course of three days (Sept. 5-7) at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., as a part of the 13-team field looking to start the new school year off with a bang and the Northern Intercollegiate team title.

SCHEDULE OF PLAY
The tournament starts at 8:51 a.m. ET on Friday, Sept. 5 with Ohio State’s Josh Wick playing in the first pairing off Hole 1. Eighteen holes will be played each of the next two days as well.
BUCKEYE LINEUP
Six Buckeyes are slated to compete for medalist honors with an experienced group manning the OSU lineup. Redshirt senior Logan Jones, and fourth-year players Boo Timko and Grant Weaver, are joined by junior Sean Busch in the lineup. Sophomore Addison Coll or redshirt freshman Josh Wick will crack the lineup as well; with the other playing as an individual.
THE GREENS
Rich Harvest Farms is located approximately 50 miles west of Chicago and has played host to some of the top amateur tournaments. It has twice been the venue for NCAA Regional competition, including just a few months ago last spring. The 2009 Solheim Cup was determined on the greens of Rich Harvest Farms while the Palmer Cup comes in for its 2015 running.
THE WEATHER FORECAST
According to Weather Channel, highs are expected in the mid-70s to low-80s throughout the weekend with a chance of rain on Friday but decreasing as the weekend progresses.
WELCOME BACK, WEAVER
Redshirt junior Grant Weaver returns to the Buckeye lineup after missing nearly all of the 2013-14 campaign with a torn ACL. Weaver was named the 2012 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and racked up 70 rounds of collegiate golf competition before suffering the injury last fall. He enters this season with a 74.84 career stroke average.
BOO IS BACK, TOO
Boo Timko, a two-time All-Midwest Region and All-Big Ten selection, is primed for his final run as a Buckeye. The senior from Girard, Ohio has logged 100 collegiate competition rounds and owns a career stroke average of 73.51.
INTERSTATE TRAVEL
The Ohio State men’s golf team will compete all over the country during the 2014-15 campaign, slated to play in at least eight different states ranging as far as Arizona westward and Florida to the south.
BUCKEYES ALL OVER THE OHIO AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS
A quartet of current Ohio State golfers all placed inside the top-20 of the 2014 Ohio Amateur Championships (July 8-11). Boo Timko led the Buckeye charge at the Coldstream Country Club, finishing in fourth place with a 2-under 282 (74-71-68-69). He also performed as the top amateur of the Ohio Open earlier this summer, notching a t-8th showing in the tournament featuring professional and amateurs from across the state.
Clark Engle came up with a top-10 performance in the Ohio Amateur as well, grabbing a share of sixth place by carding scores of 69-72-71-75–287 (+3). Logan Jones was the next Buckeye appearing on the leaderboard. The fifth-year senior followed up a t-17th effort at the Ohio Open with a share of 13th in the Ohio Amateur with tallies of 73-73-72-73–291 (+7). Josh Wick saved his best round for last, wrapping up his 293 with a 72 on Friday (73-73-75-72). His 9-over ledger was good for an 18th place tie.
