In a release through the Machine, Bice talked about stepping away from the game as a player.
“There were a lot of things that went into my decision, but the number one thing for me was my family,” Bice said I the release. “My wife has always been really supportive throughout the years and would continue to be supportive moving forward. Having my son grow up, I want to make sure that I am there for him and that I’m spending quality time with my family.”
Bice, who recently earned his MBA from Ohio State, was a USILA Second Team All-American for the Buckeyes in 2004 after garnering honorable mention honors in 2003. “Greg Bice is not only the best defenseman we have ever had at The Ohio State University, he is an incredible role model for so many that play this game,” Nick Myers, Ohio State head coach, said. “As an alum he has made a significant impact on our Buckeye lacrosse family. He is a mentor and incredible teacher to young men and women in the central Ohio community. The Buckeyes will miss seeing Greg playing at the MLL level and wish him and his family the best as they continue to make a special impact of so many lives.”
In his professional career, Bice was a four-time Major League Lacrosse All-Star (2007, 2010-12) and received the league’s New Balance Sportsman of the Year award in both 2007 and ’11.
