THREE WEEKENDS, THREE ALL-TOURNEY VOTES FOR SANDBOTHE
Sophomore middle blocker Taylor Sandbothe is off to a hot start for the Buckeyes, earning all-tournament honors in each of the first three weekends. Her most recent recognition came at the Millennium Hotel Invitational in Cincinnati after racking up 65 points in three matches with an attacking efficiency of .396, 3.71 kills/set and 1.80 blocks/set. Senior outside hitter Erin Sekinger joined her on the All-Millennium Hotel Invitational squad with 45 kills of her own and a whopping eight service aces.
THE GREAT WALL OF SANDBOTHE
Taylor Sandbothe paces the Big Ten Conference with 1.62 blocks per set, leading by a large margin over the second-best 1.41 blocks/set from Illinois’ Anna Dorn. Sandbothe’s blocking rate is amongst the nation’s elite as well, ranking eighth in all of Division-I volleyball. The Buckeye can also be found in the conference statistical rankings for points/set (4.39; 4th) and kills/set (3.27; 15th).
GETTING DIGGY WITH IT
Valeria León has averaged 4.16 digs per set this season, good for 7th-best in the Big Ten. The Buckeye libero has tallied double-digit digs in all nine matches, recording no less than 11 entering the weekend.
