Buckeyes/Cardinals to Tip at 9:30 ET Dec. 2 in ACC/Big Ten Challenge – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s Dec. 2 matchup at Louisville in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge has been slated for a 9:30 p.m. tip from the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, ESPN announced Tuesday. The game, one of 14 played during the three-day event, will be televised on ESPN.
Thad Matta, head coach of the Buckeyes, has a 6-4 record in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and has won five of the last six games in the event.
Buckeyes In The Challenge
Ohio State is participating in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge for the 13th-consecutive year and has a 6-6 record in the event. The Buckeyes first participated in the Challenge during the 2002-03 season against Duke in Greensboro, N.C., a 91-75 Blue Devils’ victory. Ohio State defeated Virginia Tech in Columbus in 2005, 69-59, for its first Challenge victory. The game vs. Duke in Columbus in 2011 pitted the highest combined ranking of Ohio State (2) and an opponent (No. 3 Duke) in the Buckeyes’ previous Challenge games. The 2012 game at Duke pitted the No. 4 Buckeyes vs. the No. 2 Blue Devils. Ohio State has been among the Top 15 teams nationally in each of the last five Challenge games (4-1 record) and among the Top 5 in each of the last four games (3-1) The Buckeyes are 2-3 in road Challenge games.

Ohio State vs. Louisville
Ohio State and Louisville have met seven times with the Buckeyes winning four in the all-time series. The teams first met Dec. 19, 1953 in Louisville, an 85-76 win for the Cardinals. Ohio State, ranked No. 1 nationally, won at Louisville in the 1961 NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes edged the Cardinals 56-55 on their way to the 1961 NCAA title game. The teams last met in Columbus Jan. 4, 2003, a 72-64 win for the No. 24 ranked Cardinals.
