Williams has 18, No. 21 Ohio St rolls over Miami U – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Reserve guard Kam Williams scored 18 points and No. 21 Ohio State went on a 26-3 run in the first half to beat Miami (Ohio) 93-55 on Monday night.
Marc Loving had 16 points, D’Angelo Russell added 15 points and eight assists, and Keita Bates-Diop scored 12 for the Buckeyes (10-2), who are 10-0 at Value City Arena and 0-2 against ranked opponents away from home this season.
Ohio State fell behind early against No. 24 North Carolina on Saturday and lost 82-74 – similar to the scenario in a 64-55 loss to No. 5 Louisville on Dec. 2. But the Buckeyes never trailed against overmatched Miami.
LJ Livingston Jr. had 17 points and Geovonie McKnight 10 for the RedHawks (3-8), who have lost seven of eight.
Jae’Sean Tate added 10 points for the Buckeyes, who led 8-4 before breaking the game open by running off 26 of the next 29 points, with eight players scoring at least two – and no more than four – points each.
Close to being run out of the gym down 34-7, the RedHawks responded with a 15-2 spurt to cut the deficit to 12. But Ohio State scored 10 of the half’s final 12 points to take a 46-24 lead.
After Livingston scored for Miami to open the second half, the Buckeyes reeled off the next 11 points – five by Russell – to push the lead out of reach at 57-26.
With the win over Miami, the Buckeyes improve to 230-76 against other Ohio colleges, including 71-21 against current members of the Mid-American Conference.
Coach Thad Matta is 14-1 against Ohio colleges. The Buckeyes fell to Dayton in the second round of the NCAA tournament last spring.
The second Ohio foe for the Buckeyes this week is Wright State, which will visit Value City Arena on Saturday.
