Buckeyes Have Most Home Wins Since 2010
Ohio State has more home wins nationally with an 89-8 (.918) record since the 2009-10 season. Wisconsin is the next best Big Ten team at No. 18(t) with a 76-11 record (.874). Going back to the 2008-09 season to the present and the Buckeyes also own the national lead in home victories with 104 wins over 115 games (104-11). The Buckeyes also have played the second-most ranked teams in the country during the Thad Matta era (2005-present). Ohio State has played 104 opponents ranked among the Associated Press Top 25 since Matta became head coach. That total trails only Michigan State (108) during that span (see page 7 for more information).
Scouting Marquette
The Marquette Golden Eagles are under the direction of first year coach Steve Wojciechowski, a former assistant and guard at Duke. Wojciechowski was an assistant with the Blue Devils when current Ohio State assistant coach Greg Paulus was a student-athlete. In his head coaching debut, Wojciechowski led the Golden Eagles to a 79-63 win vs. the University of Tennessee-Martin last Friday in Milwaukee. Marquette finished the 2013-14 season with a 17-15 record in the final year of former head coach Buzz Williams, who is now at Virginia Tech as its head coach. The current roster of Golden Eagles dos not have a player who averaged in double figures offensively as season ago. Marquette has two senior starters returning, guard Derrick Wilson and forward Juan Anderson. Wilson, who has played 100 collegiate games, averaged 5.0 points, 4.2 assists and 3.8 rebounds last season. Anderson started 19 games and averaged 3.2 points and 3.3 rebounds. Sophomore forward Deonte Burton made the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team after averaging 6.9 points.
Golden Eagles Picked 7th(t) in Big East Poll
The Golden Eagles have been predicted to finish seventh in the 10-team BIG EAST Conference in 2014-15, according to the preseason coaches poll.
Marquette and Butler are tied for seventh with 28 points. Villanova (81 points) was selected to claim the title, well ahead of Georgetown, which received 67 points in the league survey.
The Ohio State vs. Marquette Series
Ohio State and Marquette have met 10 times since first clashing Feb. 10, 1934 in Milwaukee. The Golden Eagles won that game 39-28 before the Buckeyes rattled off five wins in the next six outings. Marquette had won back-to-back meetings before Ohio State’s 52-35 win a season ago on the road. Ohio State is 2-1 in games played in Columbus vs. the Golden Eagles. Marquette has not traveled to Columbus since it defeated the Buckeyes 82-70 Nov. 30, 1994 at St. John Arena. The Buckeyes, ranked No. 20 in the preseason Associated Press Poll this year, have been among the Top 25 just once previously in the Marquette series. The Buckeyes, ranked No. 10, downed the No. 2-ranked Golden Eagles 60-59 March 18, 1971 in the Mideast Regional Semifinals of the 1971 NCAA Tournament. That game was played in Athens, Georgia, and sent the Buckeyes to the regional finals that year vs. Western Kentucky, an overtime loss to the Hilltoppers (81-78). Overall, Ohio State has played each member of the curent Big East Conference roster at least once. The Buckeyes are 63-29 vs. the 10 teams that make up the Big East.
Noting the UMass-Lowell Game
• The season opener marked the first meeting for the Buckeyes and River Hawks all time. Ohio State now leads the series 1-0.
• Ohio State is 110-6 all-time vs. non-conference opponents at Value City Arena.
• Ohio State has won 52-consecutive games against unranked non-conference opponents. The last loss was Dec. 27, 2008 vs. West Virginia.
• Ohio State is 94-18 in home openers and 90-22 in season opening contests.
• The Buckeyes are 104-11 since the 2008-09 season at home, one win ahead with Memphis for the nation’s best home record.
• Five players scored in double figures for Ohio State: D’Angelo Russell (16), Sam Thompson (14), Marc Loving (14), Anthony Lee (13) and Kam Williams (13). The last time Ohio State had five players in double figures was vs. Iowa (2/4/14).
• Ohio State shot 62 percent from the floor. The last time Ohio State posted above 60 percent from the floor was vs. North Florida (11/29/13).
• 10 Buckeyes notched 10 or more minutes vs. the River Hawks. The last time Ohio State had 10 players with 10+ minutes was vs. Nebraska Jan. 2, 2013.
• All 10 Buckeyes who saw action scored. The last time 10 players scored was vs. Bryant Dec. 11, 2013.
• D’Angelo Russell and Shannon Scott combined for 17 assists and five steals.
• The Buckeyes owned a 21-2 advantaged on second chance points.

• Shannon Scott dished out a career-high 11 assists. His previous record was 10 assists, twice, last vs. Minnesota (2/20/13).
• Scott collected two steals. He is 9th on Ohio State’s all-time steals list with 154. He needs 46 this season to become third Buckeye all time to reach 200 for career.
• Scott scored nine points. He needs 6 points to reach 500 as a Buckeye.
• Marc Loving scored career-high 14 points in his first career start for the Buckeyes.
• Loving tied his career high with two steals.
• Anthony Lee scored in double figures in his first career game for the Buckeyes, totaling 13 points.
• After redshirting last season, Kam Williams scored 12 points in his collegiate debut.
• Jae’Sean Tate scored four points and collected five rebounds in his collegiate debut.
• Trey McDonald led the Buckeyes with seven rebounds.
