Buckeyes Finish Eighth at Big Ten Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s cross country team finished eighth for the second-consecutive season at the Big Ten championship meet in West Lafayette, Ind., Sunday afternoon at the Boilermaker Cross Country Course.
OSU finished the meet with a team score of 182. No. 24 Indiana took home the team championship with a score of 51. No. 16 Michigan earned silver with a score of 66 and No. 7 Wisconsin, who had won the previous 14 Big Ten championships, took third with a score of 71. Malachy Schrobilgen, a freshman for Wisconsin, won the individual title with a time of 24:16.9.
Sophomore Nick Pupino was the top Buckeye runner on the day, finishing 28th overall with a time of 25:05.2. Also scoring for Ohio State were sophomores Brian Hannaford (30th, 25:09.3), Curtis Hanle (40, 25:19.8), Jordan Redd (43, 25:23.0) and redshirt sophomore Michael Brajdic (49, 25:27.4).
“Our 22-second gap between our top-five runners was one of our best this season,” Ohio State distance coach Brice Allen said following the race. “I am pleased with that; however, we need to continue to train hard to get that group moved closer to the front. We are looking forward to these next two weeks of preparation for the NCAA regional meet.”
