DALLAS, Texas – The Ohio State men’s golf team concluded day one of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate Monday in 10th with a 719 after rounds of 361 and 358. The 6-count-5 tournament is being held on the par 71, 7,068-yard course at the Royal Oaks Country Club and features six teams ranked in the top 20.
The fifth-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys finished the day with an impressive 21-under 689 and lead the 12-team field after two rounds of play. Cowboy Kevin Dougherty sits on top of the individual leaderboard after carding an 11-under 131 (63-68).
Freshman Frederik Hammer put together a solid day on the links for the Buckeyes and is tied for 15th with a 2-under 140. The Rungsted, Denmark, product opened the tournament with an even 71 and followed with a 2-under 69. Highlighting the day for Hammer was an eagle on the par-4 15th in round two.
Buckeye Boo Timko finished tied for 43rd overall at 2-over 144. The junior carded four birdies in the first round on his way to a 68 before slipping a bit in round two to total a 76. Sophomore Michael Bernard came in tied for 49th, notching scores of 72 and 73 for a 3-over 145 on the day.
Sophomore Tee-k Kelly totaled a 4-over 146 (75-71) and stands tied for 55th, while classmate Max Rosenthal finished with a pair of 75s on the day for an 8-over 150. Competing in his first tournament of the season, junior Logan Jones shaved 13 strokes off of his first round 83 to card a season-best 70 in round two. The Dublin, Ohio, product finished the day with a 153.
The third and final round of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate kicks off with 8:30 a.m. CT tee times off of holes No. 1 and 10 Tuesday morning.
