Ohio State Adds Julianne Mandolfo to 2012 Squad – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Julianne Mandolfo is set to join the 2012 Ohio State women’s volleyball squad, head coach Geoff Carlston announced. Mandolfo comes to Ohio State after spending two years playing at Creighton as a defensive specialist.
“Julianne will be a great addition to our program,” Carlston said. “She adds invaluable experience, competitiveness and athleticism to our defensive corps.”
Mandolfo joins the Buckeyes as one of the most consistent liberos in the Missouri Valley Conference. This past season, she was named the MVC Libero of the Year and was placed on the All-Freshman team in 2010. She led the league in 2011 with a 5.96 digs-per-set average – a mark that ranked fifth nationally. She set a single-season record at Creighton with 674 digs last year and had 20 or more digs in 21 of the team’s 30 matches.
Prior to Creighton, Mandolfo was a skilled athlete at Marian High School in Omaha. She led both her volleyball and soccer teams to state tournament titles, while also being named Most Valuable Player in each tournament. Mandolfo was a first team All-State athlete in both sports as well as a four-year varsity letter winner in volleyball and soccer.
