Softball Has Eight Named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team had eight players named 2012 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced.
Representing Ohio State were Katie Simonton, Melissa Rennie, Alicia Herron, Anne McGowan, Maddy McIntyre, Brittany Mills, Olivia O’Reilly and Shelby Pickett.
The award is bestowed upon any player who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2011-12 academic year. The honor marks the second component of the Association’s academic award program.
Ohio State will start the 2013 season at the University of Georgia Tournament in Athens, Ga. The Buckeyes face Georgia, Elon and Winthrop Feb. 8-10.
