COLUMBUS, Ohio – Alex Redfield, a senior on the Ohio State men’s golf team, was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. The weekly honor is Redfield’s first of his career and the first for the Buckeyes this season.
Redfield captured individual medalist honors at the Marshall Invitational, Sept. 12-13, and guided the Buckeyes to the team’s second-consecutive and 19th overall win at the tournament. Redfield and his teammates earned top honors after finishing with an 18-under 834 on the par 71, 6,573-yard Guyan Golf Club in Huntington, W.Va.
The Columbus product carded a field-best 6-under 65 in the final round to vault from 11th at the start of the day to first. Redfield captured his first-career individual title with a three-round score of 9-under 204, which was a career-low.
The Buckeyes make a quick turnaround and travel to Olympia Fields, Ill., for the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, Sept. 16-18.
