COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team is in Hawaii in preparation for the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic beginning Thursday. The 22nd-ranked Buckeyes will play host and 10th-ranked Hawaii (3-0) Thursday at 7 p.m. HT.
Sarah Mignin and Amy Schwarzwalder:
Another sunny day started out with breakfast at 9am. We love breakfasts here because the fruit is so fresh, pineapple never tasted so good! Right after breakfast we headed to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The memorial was heart-wrenching, yet peaceful. Many soldier’s lives were taken on December 7th, 1941, but the memorial is a remembrance that they died bravely serving for the country they love. As we stood over the USS Arizona we spotted oil leaking to the surface, and it all became a little too real. Being able to visit this memorial with the team was a great experience and it’s our favorite one since we have been in Hawaii!
After we went to see the historical Pearl Harbor we had some time to check out the International Market. We took this time to buy our family and friends back home gifts. We did our best at bargaining with the sellers to get the lowest prices. Unfortunately the shopping had to come to a stop. We headed back to our hotel and got our heads right and switched gears to watch video and prepare for practice. Today’s focus in practice was mainly on Hawaii and the slight adjustments we are making to slow down their offense. Each day here is a blessing and we’re looking forward to tomorrow’s journey! Hopefully all of Buckeye nation will be watching and cheering us on. We’re just living the dream.
