Hole, Danks Named AVCA Honorable Mention All-America – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s volleyball juniors Mari Hole and Emily Danks were named AVCA Honorable Mention All-America, the organization announced Wednesday. The selections were made by the AVCA Division I All-America Committee and the honor is the first for both Hole and Danks.
Hole, an outside hitter, finished the 2011 season with a team-best 534 kills and a 4.02 kills-per-set average. The AVCA All-Mideast selection from Oslo, Norway, totaled 32 double-digit kill performances on the year, including a 26-kill match at Toledo. Hole, an All-Big Ten selection, had 20 double-double matches and led the team with a 4.53 points-per-set average.
Danks, a Round Rock, Texas, product, concluded the season second on the team with 453 kills and a 3.36 kills-per-set average. An AVCA All-Mideast and All-Big Ten honorable mention honoree, Danks finished 13th nationally with a .47 aces-per-set average and led the team with 63 service aces on the year. She totaled 28 double-digit kill matches and six double-doubles this season.
The Buckeyes finished the season 21-15 and reached the regional semifinals of the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championships for the second-straight year.
