Jamie Sindelar Fires a 67 to Take Fall Qualifying Lead – Ohio State Buckeyes

Sophomore jumps ahead of senior Bo Hoag by a stroke with two rounds to play
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The windy conditions and firm greens proved to be no problem for sophomore Jamie Sindelar, who was on his game Wednesday firing a career-best 67 on Scarlet Course during the third round of fall qualifying for the Ohio State men’s golf team.
The 67 garnered Sindelar his new golf bag, with a score of 69 or below needed for the reward, but also bumped the Horseheads, N.Y., native ahead of senior Bo Hoag in the overall standings. Sindelar leads at 4-under 209 while Hoag is a stroke back after a third-round score of 72.
“All the hard work Jamie put in during the spring and summer is paying off,” Donnie Darr, second-year head coach, said. “He made a swing adjustment late in the spring that is really making dividends.”
Also impressing Darr with his bounce back was Alex Redfield. After an opening round of 79, the junior from Columbus fought back with a 73 Tuesday then came out and carded the second-lowest third-round score at 71.
Fall qualifying continues with single rounds Thursday and Friday at Scarlet Course.
Tournament action begins Sept. 13-14 when the Buckeyes travel to Huntington, W.Va., to open the 2010-11 season at the Marshall Invitational.
