Ohio State Tops Leaderboard, Redfield Opens with 66 at Marshall Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

Four of five Buckeyes open under par with Bo Hoag and Dan Charen also shooting in the 60s
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team opened its fall season Monday and came out strong, standing in first place after the first round of the 41st-annual Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.Va. The Buckeyes are 11-under with a team score of 273 with four of five golfers turning in rounds under par on the par 71, 6,534-yard course at Guyan Country Club.
Alex Redfield, a junior from Columbus, led the way by opening with a 5-under 66 and is tied for second. It is the lowest college round for Redfield, besting his previous low by four shots. The only golfer with a better score was Sebastian MacLean of Xavier, who fired a 63.
Also in the 60s for Ohio State were senior Bo Hoag with a 68 and junior Dan Charen with a 69. For Charen, it was the first sub-70 round as a Buckeye, while Hoag carded the 13th of his career. Hoag is tied for seventh after round one; Charen is tied for 14th.
Sophomore Jamie Sindelar had a strong outing in the first round as well, tying his career low with a 70 to tie for 18th, while senior Brad Smith was even-par 71, tying for 38th. Fellow senior Michael Cress is playing as an individual and opened with a 70.
