Buchanan, Marcan Tabbed 2010 All-Americans – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Chase Buchanan and Dino Marcan, members of the Ohio State men’s tennis team, were named 2010 All-Americans the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Monday. Buchanan was dubbed a singles and doubles honoree and Marcan earned the coveted status in doubles. Marcan also becomes Ohio State’s first freshman All-American.
Buchanan and Marcan were the No. 1 doubles tandem for the Buckeyes and reached as high as No. 9 in the ITA rankings. Beginning the season unranked, Buchanan and Marcan upset then-No. 9 Austin Krajicek and Jeff Dadamo of Texas A&M in March and immediately entered the polls at No. 43. Following that win, the duo moved 34 places to No. 9 heading into the NCAA championships. The pair finished the season with a 21-4 overall record, including a 16-3 mark at No. 1 doubles. They also were 12-3 against nationally-ranked opponents.
The 2010 Big Ten Player of the Year and ITA Player to Watch, Buchanan started the year ranked 103rd. Receiving the No. 1 singles starting nod, Buchanan climbed his way 97 spots to sixth in the nation by the end of the season. Finishing the year 31-6, Buchanan, who hails from New Albany, Ohio, was 24-2 at No. 1 singles, 25-2 in dual play and 20-6 against nationally-ranked opponents. He also went a perfect 10-0 in regular-season conference action.
