COLUMBUS, Ohio – Brandon Wynn, a senior on the Ohio State men’s gymnastics team, will compete on still rings and floor exercise for the U.S. in the team finals at 11 a.m. ET Thursday at the 2010 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships at the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Wynn, the 2010 NCAA and U.S. Champion on rings, scored a 15.400 on the event, which was the highest mark by a U.S. member. With Wynn’s rings performance, he will be a reserve in the individual event finals Saturday.
“The preliminary team meet was good for the USA,” head coach Miles Avery said. “The team qualified into the final tomorrow ranked as the third best team in the world. Brandon as usual anchored the ring team and did his usual great job. He will have to do it again to help the USA win a medal at these World Championships.”
The U.S. National Team finished third at the end of the qualification round with a 357.092 total behind China and Japan who scored first and second, respectively. The Top 8 teams advanced to the finals, while the Top 8 athletes on each apparatus advance to the individual finals.
In the qualification round, Wynn competed on five of the six events, including floor exercise, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. In addition to leading the U.S. on rings, Wynn tallied a 13.933 on floor to help the U.S.
