Kelli Barhorst Named Big Ten Player of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference office announced today Kelli Barhorst has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week for her play last week in victories over Iowa and 19th-ranked Minnesota. In the 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-17) win over Iowa, she posted a career-high 14 kills against the Hawkeyes while hitting .619. Barhorst added a match-high seven blocks with a solo and six assists. In the 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-17) upset of 19th-ranked Minnesota last week, she posted a match-high 11 kills while hitting .429. Her five total blocks were a match high with two solos and three assists. In the two matches, Barhorst averaged 5.42 points, 4.17 kills and 2.00 blocks per set while hitting .524.
Barhorst has played and started in 16 matches this season. She is averaging 3.35 points (second on the team), 2.65 kills (second on the team), .40 digs and .94 blocks (third on the team) per set while hitting a team-high .420.
Ohio State (16-5 overall, 4-4 Big Ten, tied for fifth) will host ninth-ranked Penn State (15-4, 5-3, tied for third) at 7 p.m. Wednesday in St. John Arena. The match will be carried live by the Big Ten Network.
