Former Buckeye Oliver named to All-World team, White helped Canada to a bronze
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two former members of the Ohio State women’s lacrosse team recently concluded play at the 2009 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup June 18-27 in Prague, Czech Republic. Regina Oliver, a Buckeye from 2002-05, and the U.S. won gold at the competition while Kylee (Reade) White (1999-02) played for Canada who won the bronze out of a field of 16 international teams. Both international stars served terms as assistant coaches for Ohio State after their player careers ended and remain in coaching. Oliver is the assistant coach for the Duquesne women’s lacrosse team while White holds the same position at Loyola College.
Oliver, who was named player of the game in Team USA’s defeat of Canada, was selected to the 2009 FIL All-World Team after the U.S. secured an 8-7 victory over the Australians, defending World Cup champions, in the gold medal match. Playing in seven games, Oliver collected 12 groundballs and posted 10 caused turnovers. At Ohio State, Oliver was a four-time Mid-Atlantic Regional and two-time IWLCA/U.S. Lacrosse All-American. In the Buckeye record book, she holds the Top 4 spots for season caused turnovers and holds the career record with 201. Offensively, Oliver ranks fourth all-time in career points with 166 from 125 goals and 41 assists.
White, who played under her maiden name of Reade at Ohio State, also saw time in all seven of Canada’s contests, including the Canuck’s bronze medal game. In those games, White picked up seven groundballs and won four draw controls. As a Buckeye, White is tied for seventh with 60 caused turnovers and ninth with 123 career groundballs.
