Bo Hoag Places Fourth as Buckeyes Finish Fifth at William H. Tucker Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

Along with Hoag, Brad Wright and Vaughn Snyder finish in the Top 20
COLUMBUS, Ohio Three Buckeyes placed in the Top 20, led by sophomore Bo Hoag in fourth, as the Ohio State men’s golf team finished fifth with a score of 7-over 871 at the 54th annual William H. Tucker Invitational Saturday to open its fall schedule in Albuquerque, N.M. The Buckeyes had a team score of 298 (+10) during the third round on the par 72, 7,403-yard UNM Championship Course.
UNLV won the event with a score of 12-under 852 and was one of two teams in the 16-team field to finish under par. Ohio State was just three strokes back from fourth-place Colorado. Host New Mexico placed second at 1-under and Pepperdine was third at even-par.
Hoag battled for the top of the leaderboard throughout the final round and closed with a score of 74 for a total of 3-under 213. The native of Upper Arlington, Ohio, finished just two strokes back from co-winners Derek Tolan of Colorado and Eddie Olson of UNLV.
Redshirt-junior Brad Wright tied for 14th in his first tournament as a Buckeye. The Cambridge, Ohio, native finished with round of 77 for a total of 3-over 219.
Senior Vaughn Snyder struggled on the front nine of his third round at 6-over, but battled back on the last nine holes at 4-under with five birdies and a bogey. The Massillon, Ohio, native’s 74 moved him to a tie for 20th at 221.
Michael Kinkopf finished just one stroke back with a total of 222 to tie for 24th. In his first collegiate tournament, the true freshman from Hilliard, Ohio, carded a final round of 77, but finished strong on the back nine at 1-under including an eagle on No. 10.
Rounding out the Buckeyes was Patrick Simard who shot the low round of the day for the team with a 73. The junior from Marbella, Spain, had two birdies and an eagle on his last four holes to climb back to a tie for 29th with a total of 224.
Ohio State returns to action Oct. 6-7 in the Memphis Intercollegiate at the Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tenn.
