Former Buckeye John Cook Honorary Chairperson for Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

Cook, a three-time All-American at Ohio State, returned to Columbus for the event’s media day
COLUMBUS, Ohio – John Cook, a three-time All-America selection for the Ohio State men’s golf team, returned to Columbus Tuesday for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational Media Day. Cook, who helped the Buckeyes to three-consecutive Big Ten titles from 1977-79, is the honorary chairperson for the 2008 tournament, held July 24-27 at The Ohio State University Golf Club’s Scarlet Course.
Following a breakfast in the club house, Cook spoke about being “thrilled” to be the chairperson for the event hosted on the famous course of his alma mater. Also speaking that morning was Jeff Monday, senior vice president of the Nationwide Tour, as well as a doctor from the Nationwide Children’s Hospital, who received over $480,000 from the inaugural event last year.
While Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Pediatric Cancer Treatment and Research is the primary beneficiary of the invitational, the tournament this year features a Charity Ticket Program, in which 100 percent of all general admission ticket revenue will be returned to charity. More than 30 local organization are partipating and fans purchasing tickets online or at the gate will be able to select which charity they want to direct their contribution.
After the annoucement of the ticket program and an interview session with those associated with the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational, members of Columbus media had the opportunity to get out and play Scarlet Course to see what challenges lay ahead for the professionals in July.
