Women’s Lacrosse Adds Eight Recruits – Ohio State Buckeyes

Will Join Buckeyes As Freshmen For 2009 Season
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State women’s lacrosse program has signed eight newcomers for the 2009 season.
“We are excited about the Class of 2009,” head coach Sue Stimmel said. “They are all outstanding athletes who have been impact players in competitive high school programs.”
Olivia Annalora is team captain at Heritage High School in Littleton, Colo. A first team all-Continental League selection, Annalora scored 60 goals and 16 assists as a junior as the Eagles advanced to the state playoffs. She totaled 101 goals and 23 assists as a junior, and has also been a state qualifier in swimming. She will play midfield or attack for the Buckeyes.
Laura Beck, a Media, Pa., product who attends Archbishop Carroll High School, earned all-Main Line recognition as a sophomore and junior, helping the Patriots to their seventh straight Catholic League championship. She will play defense at Ohio State.
Beck’s teammate at Archbishop Carroll High, Gabby Capuzzi, from Broomall, Pa., led the Catholic League in scoring as a junior with 63 goals, as the Patriots captured their seventh consecutive league title. A first team all-Main Line midfielder who earned honorable mention All-America honors, Capuzzi was a Catholic League all-star in cross country.
Olivia Cora, from University Heights, Ohio, attends the Laurel School, where she scored 42 goals and six assists for the Gators last season. A first team all-state, all-Midwest and all-MSLA tournament team selection, Cora was chosen for the U.S. Lacrosse national tournament. Captain of the Laurel basketball team, Cora will play midfield or defense for Ohio State.
Kirsten Donahue, from Seneca (N.J.) High School, has scored 233 career goals through her junior season, already ranking her third all-time among South Jersey leaders. She scored 81 goals and 14 assists last season, earning first team all-Burlington County and second team all-state recognition. A U.S. Lacrosse honorable mention All-American, Donahue will play midfield or attack..
Alayna Markwordt, from Woodbine, Md., led Glenelg High School to the 2007 state soccer championship, and ran cross country. An all-Howard County midfielder, Markwordt is a member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Caylee Rafalko, who attends Sewickley (Pa.) Academy, helped the Panthers to the WPIAL section championship last spring. The midfielder was recognized on the all-section, all-WPIAL and U.S. Lacrosse honorable mention All-America teams.
Kelsay Tabor, from Downingtown West (Pa.) High School, is a key performer for the Ches-Mont league runners-up and runs cross country as well. A member of the PAExpress lacrosse program, she will play midfield for Ohio State.
The Buckeyes open the 2008 season Feb. 16 hosting American in a 2:30 p.m. game at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
