COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team hosts Duquesne Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 4 p.m. Because of the anticipated conditions, the match will be played on the North Turf Field adjacent to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
The Buckeyes are 1-0 after a season-opening 14-3 win Saturday against American. Senior Kristen Slahor led Ohio State’s scoring with a goal and four assists.
Ohio State outshot American 22-6; Buckeye goalie Kristen Gilwee was credited with four saves. Freshman Maghan Beaudrault led OSU with four draw controls. Shimp, a senior, was the leader in caused turnovers with three.
“It’s always great to start the season with a win. I saw some things I really liked from our squad and saw some things we need to improve. We need to work to be consistent but this was an excellent start,” said Sue Stimmel, now in her 13th season as Ohio State head coach.
Duquesne is 0-1, losing 16-4 at Notre Dame Sunday.
Ohio State continues its three-game homestand next Sunday, Feb. 24, with a 2:30 p.m. match against Notre Dame as part of a doubleheader with the OSU men’s lacrosse team.
