Men’s XC: Buckeyes Finish 21st at the Pre-NCAA Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

Freshman Taylor Williams leads the Buckeyes with a 44th-place finish
COLUMBUS, Ohio After not having their top four runners at the All-Ohio meet last Friday, the Buckeyes were back to full strength at the Pre-NCAA Invitational meet in Terre Haute Ind.
They placed 21st as a team out of 41 total teams in the men’s 8K Blue Race, which included 14 of the nation’s Top 30 cross-country teams.
The men from Alabama claimed the team crown with 89 points and the second-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys finished 23rd.
Finishing first for the Buckeyes was Taylor Williams, who placed 44th individually in 24:24.3. The freshman been Ohio State’s top runner in every race he has competed in this season.
Junior Christopher Olinger finished 91st in a time of 24:51.2 and sophomore Andy Arnio placed 115th in 25:04.0. Arnio’s time is his fastest in the 8K in his short collegiate career. Sophomore Adam Green posted a season-best time of 25:08.2 and was the fourth Buckeye to finish the race. Junior Taylor Candella also had a season-best performance with a time of 25:12.8.
Levi Fox finished sixth for Ohio State in 25:27.8, and Skyler Schmitt rounded out the top seven in 26:06.2.
Ohio State will head into its championship season Nov. 2 when they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the Big Ten Championships.
