Kevin Hall wins the event with two rounds of 66, Mike Austin ties for second
COLUMBUS, Ohio Former Buckeye men’s golfers Kevin Hall and Mike Austin finished first and tied for second, respectively, at The Hooters Tour’s Bridgestone Winter Series Week Seven, Thursday in Ocoee, Fla. The three-day event was held at the par 72, 7,113-yeard Forest Lake Golf Club.
Hall, a four-year letterwinner at Ohio State from 2001-04, followed his opening round of 70 with two rounds of 66 for a tournament total of 14-under 202 and a four-stroke victory. He collects $11,909 for the win and moves into second place on the season-long money list with $23,470 in earnings. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native was an All-Big Ten honoree in 2004 after helping the Buckeyes to the Big Ten championship that season.
Austin, also a four-year letterwinner from 1998-2001, carded scores of 67-71-68 for a total of 206 at the event. The native of Burton, Mich., tied with three others for second to take home $4,526. Austin was a three-time All-Big Ten selection (1998, 2000, 2001) as well as a two-time All-America Scholar.
